Jack’s Irish charm was most often evident in his twinkling eyes and boyish grin. He loved Ireland and the Irish people. He studied the history of his forefathers and was filled with that strange mixture of nostalgia, pride, and vicarious Irish patriotism.
During his visit to Ireland 50 years ago, he said of his ancestral home, “This is not the land of my birth, but it is the land for this I hold the greatest affection.”
